Jenny 2

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Minor in Womens' Studies. I obtained a Master of Social Work degree from San Francisco State University and hold Licenses in California and North Carolina.  I am currently in the Sex Therapy and Education Certification Program through California Institute of Integral Studies. In addition to my Cognitive Behavioral and Psychodynamic training in Graduate school, I have completed specialized clinical training through The Couples Institute, The Gottman Institute, Intensive Sex Therapy Training through Guelph University, and The EMDR Institute. EMDR  is extremely beneficial in treating anything from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to anxiety, grief, depression or "stuck" areas in your life. In order to best meet your individual needs, I may combine various styles of therapy, including talk therapy, EMDR and relaxation/mindfulness techniques. Click here to learn more about EMDR

My work has included therapy with diverse populations in High Schools, outpatient and inpatient Medical settings, jails, research, HIV counseling and Community Clinics.  I provide a safe space for the LGBTQ community and specialize in supporting transgender and non-binary individuals through self discovery and/or transition. My psychotherapy practice is sex positive and kink aware. I respect diversity in race, ethnicity, religious and cultural beliefs, gender, sexuality and relationship structures. I respect diversity in people.

My work as a therapist is my passion, not just my career. I believe that mental health is intimately connected with spiritual and physical health and is powerful source of strength, connection, healing and resilience.  Whether you are experiencing a transition in your life, coping with on-going mental health symptoms or looking to have more positive, healthy relationships, I will collaborate with you to make the needed changes.  I am skilled at creating a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental environment.  As a therapist, I am knowledgeable, down to earth, interactive, empathic and find humor to be a helpful tool.

In addition to individual therapy, I provide SoulCollageŽ workshops. My sister, Cynthia Shealy, and I combine our specialities to provide Movement and SoulCollageŽ workshops. SoulCollageŽ is perfect for individuals, retreats and community building activities. I also facilitate workshops helping professionals create transgender and non-binary affirming practices. If you or your company/agency are interested in workshops, please contact me.
